the Colorado River
periodically heads Northwest.

The meandering Colorado
River changed its course
numerous times over the
centuries and filled the
"Salton Sink" area of the
Southwestern United
States. Native Americans
occupied this area in
10,000 B.C. Periodically,
Lake Cahuilla formed,
then came and went, came and went until the dawn of the 20th century when an accidental diversion from the Colorado River occurred in 1905, forming the present day
Salton Sea
